What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Im beyond pro-life as a radical abolitionist, but real abolition will require radical love. Abortion is a disgusting and barbaric practice, but so is killing or caging women who have been led to believe they had no other realistic choice. Many of the arguments that support human abortion and human slavery are the same. This practice can never be abolished by government force in a free society or in a society that has any semblance of being free. We have to find ways to solve our problems with love, not force because good ideas dont require force.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Taxation is theft. Income taxation in particular is an all-out assault on liberty that robs an individual of the most fundamental type of property one can own, the fruit of their labor. A nation that is in debt to the tune of nearly $30 Trillion has no business expanding federal funding for anything. Every Trillion more we borrow at this point dooms another future generation of Americans to income tax slavery.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
The first Amendment guarantees free speech. This is a fundamental human right that is sacred not only for individuals, but for groups of individuals.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Absolutely not. I do not support obstacles to accountability for anyone regardless of their position. I have little respect for the opinions of those who do support such evasions from accountability.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
Our nation already spends more than the next 7 most powerful military nations combined. This is governmental malfeasance when our public debt is now a larger figure than our GDP. I support a strong national DEFENSE. NOT a global empire where we continue to attempt to police the world with unwanted interventions and unethical occupations.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Keynesian Socialism is far more dangerous to the U.S. than it's Marxist sibling because it is largely embraced by American politicians of both major parties. Providing relief to businesses during emergencies sounds like a good idea until put into practice and then it becomes a centrally planned scheme for determining the winners and losers in the economy by government. This is socialism and I don't endorse it in any form. It is, as Hayek put it, the Road to Serfdom.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
When the framers created the federal government with our Constitution, certain powers were reserved to the states and other powers were delegated to the federal government. Education standards were not delegated to the federal government and therefore federal education standards have no constitutional legitimacy. Legislated educational standards fall clearly within the powers reserved to the states and therefore federal education standards are illegal according to the 10th Amendment.
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I support private funding for the development of renewable energy and government incentives for such, not government funding. I support consumer awareness of the levels of greenhouse emissions produced by private industry so that market regulations can be made by enlightened consumers.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Absolutely not. "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." The use of government force to control the private ownership by the people of whatever arms they choose with which to defend themselves from harm or tyranny always amounts to infringement even when public safety is the objective. Our founders gave us a legacy of liberty. Liberty is a free way of life, not a safe one.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
I nearly all situations I support government staying the hell out of business practices and allowing the market to self-regulate.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
When glittering prizes of free healthcare, education, and jobs are readily available just on the other side of a man-made wall, people will always find ways to go over, around or through that wall to get to the prizes. I support secure borders, secured by American military personnel who are presently occupying the sovereign territory of other nations. Then once our borders are secure, I support open, Ellis Island style immigration that welcomes people like my own ancestors who came to America to improve their lives and to leave a legacy of promise to their children.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
American use of force around the globe is the primary reason governments hostile to the U.S. seek weapons of mass destruction. When the U.S. returns to it's original foreign policy of friendly non-intervention and open dialogue and trade with all nations, these problems will cease to exist.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Freedom is the natural state of mankind. It is also the most ethical and prosperous state of trade.
End the cycle of endless borrowing that has already burdened future generations of Americans with astronomical debt by drastically reducing the scope and function of the federal government. End the so-called "War on Drugs" that has caused unprecedented social chaos and heartache and has not solved any social problems by decriminalization of natural substances and a replacement of a punitive approaches to substance abuse with one of recovery, healing and compassion. Stop the cycle of endless warfare and war profiteering that encourages that cycle by returning all war-making powers to the legislative branch as our founders intended.
